Sometimes we get so busy, there doesn’t seem to be time for the Lord, but having a relationship with Jesus is paramount to being right with God. With a quick self-evaluation, are you somewhat distant from Jesus, or close? If you cannot honestly conclude that you have an intimate relationship with the Lord, then a daily five minute prayer may be your initial solution.
During this brief communication, the most pressing topics can be shared. If you set a timer, then talk to the Lord about whatever weighs on the heart, it will feel like time well spent. It isn’t long, but it’s surely better than keeping the Lord sidelined.
A habit could be developed to do a brief prayer multiple times per day, perhaps even frequently. But, even just once per day is enough to eventually become familiar with the Lord, allowing him access to your life. As someone draws near to our Savior, it becomes clear he is a valued friend, you’ll look forward to spending time with our doorway to eternal life.
“So now Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters.”
Heb 2:11 NLT
Giving time to the Lord allows him to help get our lives in order, after all, he has all the answers. One advantage of walking with the Lord is the option of transferring our burdens to him, allowing our faith walk to be more enjoyable and productive. A brief prayer, even if just daily, is enough to eventually learn the Lord‘s voice, then you will naturally spend more time with your best friend. After becoming familiar with the Lord, it seems natural for him to be our Shepherd. Forming a friendship with our Savior pleases our Father very much, there’s no better way to honor God.
“Therefore, it was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters, so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then he could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people.”
Hebrews 2:17 NLT
