Even though information provided through modern prophecy is revealing and interesting, we must be careful, because the powers of darkness shrewdly maneuver false prophets with counterfeit information, skillfully deceiving numerous people with nearly truths and popular lies. I’ve noticed that some people have chose to disregard modern prophecy altogether, in order to protect themselves from evil deception, but in doing so, they have closed the door to essential revelations from God.
When determining if a prophecy is true, we need to be proficiently familiar with Scriptures, and have a close relationship with Jesus. If a prophecy doesn’t contradict the Word of God, that’s a good sign, but it should also agree with the Word. Modern prophecies generally share a commonality, whereas Jesus reflects on truth within the Bible.
Since Satan specializes in clandestinely contradicting the Bible, doing so in a way that appears to be truth, special care needs to be applied when searching for contradictions, because they can be subtle. Satan cannot bring himself to quote truth, he vehemently hates it, so he always dilutes Scripture just enough to remove truth, and in doing so, tries hard to keep the appearance of truth.
“For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones. See, I have warned you about this ahead of time.”
Matthew 24:24-25 NLT
Also, Satan has managed to stealthily infiltrate some christian-based religions, causing people to believe deceptive teachings. So rather than depending on religious doctrine for truth, we should always refer to the Bible, God has protected his eternal Word throughout the millenniums.
Another way of determining if a prophecy is true, follow the heart, because the Lord will guide his sheep by spiritual discernment. If the prophecy is true, the Lord will give heartfelt peace about it, if it's a lie, the heart will feel uneasy, and in some cases the deception will be obvious. But, for this divine communication to be discerned, we must draw near to Jesus and walk in faith.
In one modern prophecy, Jesus said some historically prophecied events of these last days have been delayed, because many of his people aren't ready. He is endeavoring to help us realize the urgency and importance of allowing the Holy Spirit to build a new heart within, then to boldly follow the Spirit’s guidance. Drawing near to the Lord is a requirement of the New Covenant, this is how we come to know his voice. Jesus obeys our Father by conducting these journeys into the beyond, sometimes he will be the host, and other times an angel will be assigned the task.
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”
John 10:27 NLT
A couple of reasons God has enacted modern prophecy is to quicken an awareness that time is rapidly approaching for the second coming , and to stimulate motivation to follow the Holy Spirit’s lead. The world will be caught off guard by the Lord’s return, but God’s children should anticipate the return of our Lord, knowing the season is at hand. If we draw near to him, we will know the time is near. Whenever modern prophets ask Jesus when he will return, his reply is always "soon", and he emphasizes we need to be aware of this.
“But you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief. For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night. So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clear headed.”
1 Thes 5:4-6 NLT
Some people may be waiting for prophetic events of the Bible to unfold before expecting the Lord's return, but much of it has already been realized. The first five trumpets have already sounded , and the sixth could be anytime, which will be the worst war ever, involving the use of nuclear weapons. I believe we will witness terrible prophetic events before the rapture, so it’s paramount to be receiving spiritual nutrition by drawing near to the Vine.
Among Christians, there’s an ongoing debate about timing of the rapture, whether pre-trib or post. My opinion has varied over the years, but now see Scripture reveals it will occur simultaneously when Jesus returns as King of kings, which means Christians must persevere during the beast's reign. It’s written the beast will be identified about halfway through the final seven years, at which time he will announce to the world that he is God.
“These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.”
